Health friendly air (HFA) provides specialist, health-based indoor air testing and consultancy services for workplaces, homes, hospitals, schools, underground car parks and retail outlets. Our mission is simple: to help organisations and building owners understand what’s in their indoor air, what it means for health, and how to reduce exposure risks through evidence-led solutions.
People spend the vast majority of their time indoors, and air quality can directly influence respiratory health, comfort, productivity and infection control. Whether you are responding to occupant concerns, supporting a remediation plan, validating ventilation performance, or gathering data for product development, HFA delivers reliable results supported by robust aerobiology expertise.
What we do
HFA offers a complete indoor air quality assessment service, from initial scoping through to sampling, analysis and actionable reporting. Our work focuses on health-relevant airborne contaminants, including microbial and allergenic exposures, and we tailor every project to the building type, occupancy and risk profile.
Typical projects include:
Investigation of reported indoor air complaints, odour or dampness issues
Baseline air quality surveys for new or refurbished buildings
Microbial air monitoring to support infection prevention and control (IPC)
Ventilation and filtration performance validation
Post-remediation verification testing
Product and technology evaluation (e.g., air cleaners, filters, UV, ventilation innovations)
Risk assessments aligned with occupational health requirements
Who we support
We work with a wide range of organisations across Ireland and internationally, including:
Employers and facility managers
Healthcare providers and hospital estates teams
Schools, universities and childcare facilities
Residential property owners and housing bodies
Retail and commercial landlords
Environmental health and safety professionals
Manufacturers developing indoor air technologies
Our expertise and facility
Health friendly air is backed by Airmid Healthgroup, a biomedical aerobiology contract research facility based in Dublin, Ireland. We operate from a 20,000 sq ft purpose-built site, which includes:
10 dedicated aerobiology testing chambers for controlled, repeatable air experiments
BSL-2 laboratories supporting allergen, virology and microbiology testing
Specialist aerosol generation and sampling systems
Environmental control for temperature, humidity and ventilation scenarios
This infrastructure enables highly controlled testing for real-world indoor air challenges — from microbial and allergen behaviour in air, to efficacy studies for air cleaning technologies.

Quality, standards and accreditations
All HFA services are delivered under a strong quality framework. We are:
ISO/IEC 17025 accredited, ensuring technically valid testing and reliable results
AHAM AC-5 accredited for microbial performance testing
Experienced in running projects in line with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) requirements where needed
These accreditations mean clients can confidently use our data for regulatory submissions, internal validation, product claims, or high-stakes building decisions.
What you get
Every HFA project is designed to be practical and decision-ready. Clients receive:
Clear sampling strategy agreed in advance
Transparent, defensible methods
Results interpreted in a health-based context
Easy-to-understand reporting with next-step recommendations
Support in communicating findings to stakeholders or occupants
Where appropriate, we also provide follow-on guidance to help reduce indoor air risks through ventilation optimisation, filtration, cleaning programmes or remediation planning.
