Background
John has held a range of senior executive roles throughout his career — including Chief Operating Officer, Commercial Director, and Director of Services and Strategy — giving him hands-on experience across the full commercial lifecycle. His expertise spans sales and marketing leadership, new business development, product and service diversification, major contract oversight, and managing relationships with external regulatory bodies in regulated industries.
As an independent business advisor, John has worked with private and public sector clients on strategy, governance, and commercial development. He has advised both internal management teams and external investors — including VC funds — on due diligence and business appraisal assignments. His international track record spans Ireland, the UK, the USA, Canada, South Africa, and Saudi Arabia, across clients ranging from ambitious SMEs to large multinationals.
In 2011, John received a Ministerial appointment to the Irish Department of Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation’s inaugural Small Business Forum, where he contributed to the development of Ireland’s first Action Plan for Jobs (published 2012) under the Ethics in Public Service principles.
Non-executive & public roles
John is an experienced non-executive director and Chairman in both commercial and not-for-profit sectors. He served as a non-executive director of ISME — the Irish Small and Medium Enterprises Association — for over ten years, holding the positions of Vice-Chairman and Chairman and contributing to various pan-European business committees.
