Job Title:

Test Engineer – Air Quality & Filtration (R&D Lab)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Filtration Test Engineer with expertise in aerosol science, air quality testing, and filtration system evaluation. This role involves the setup, configuration, and management of air filtration test chambers, including aerobiology and allergen exposure chambers. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and conducting tests to evaluate air filters, purifiers, HVAC systems, and other air quality technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

 Filtration Testing & Performance Evaluation:

  • Set up and operate aerosol research chambers for air filtration testing.
  • Conduct performance assessments of air purifiers, HVAC filters, HEPA systems, and particle removal technologies.
  • Analyse efficiency, pressure drop, dust-holding capacity, and filter longevity in accordance with international standards (ASHRAE, ISO, EN, etc.).

Aerosol & Allergen Exposure Testing:

  • Manage controlled allergen exposure chambers to assess filter effectiveness against airborne allergens and pathogens.
  • Work with aerosol generation and particle measurement instruments such as Optical Particle Counters (OPCs), Scanning Mobility Particle Sizers (SMPS), and Condensation Particle Counters (CPC).

Data Analysis & Reporting:

  • Collect and analyse test data using statistical modelling and visualisation tools.
  • Prepare technical reports and certification documents for clients, detailing test methodologies, findings, and recommendations.

Equipment Calibration & Maintenance:

  • Maintain test chambers, air sampling devices, and environmental control systems.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 17025 laboratory testing standards and participate in regular quality assurance audits.

Collaboration & Innovation:

  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop and improve testing methodologies.
  • Stay up to date with emerging air filtration technologies and regulatory updates.

Qualifications & Experience: 

Education:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Aerosol Science, or a related field.

Experience:

3+ years of experience in air filtration testing, aerosol research, or air quality engineering.
Experience with controlled exposure studies and environmental chamber operation is highly desirable.

Technical Expertise:

  • Proficiency in aerosol science techniques, including particle size distribution analysis and air sampler operation.
  • Familiarity with air filtration standards.
  • Software & Analytical Tools:
  • Experience with data acquisition systems.
  • Strong statistical analysis skills for interpreting experimental results.
  • Key Skills:
    Attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot complex test setups.
    Strong communication skills for technical report writing and client presentations.
