Advancing Environmental Health and Innovation at ASHRAE Winter Meeting & AHR Expo 2025

By Dr. John McKeon, Medical director at Airmid and expert author on Aerobiology, infections aerosols and indoor air. Dr McKeon is an Ambassador of the World Filtration Institute, an accredited educator for the American Institute of Architects and a member of the Environmental Health Committee of ASHRAE.

As a member of the ASHRAE Environmental Health Committee, I am looking forward to attending the ASHRAE Winter Meeting 2025 in Orlando, followed by the AHR Expo. These gatherings are essential for exploring the latest advancements in indoor air quality (IAQ), building science, and environmental health.

Representing Airmid Healthgroup and the iAIR Institute, I’ll be engaging with industry leaders and experts to discuss solutions for healthier, more sustainable built environments. My work extends beyond research to active involvement in technical groups developing ASHRAE standards, in alignment with ANSI guidelines.

My approach to environmental health and regulatory standards has been influenced by my participation in Harvard Kennedy School’s Executive Program in Strategic Management of Regulatory and Enforcement Agencies. The program provided valuable perspectives on governance, compliance strategies, and regulatory frameworks that complement my contributions to standard development and technical committees.

These experiences align with the topics I recently discussed on Simon Jones’s podcast, where we delved into the critical role of IAQ and research-driven solutions in creating healthier indoor environments.

I look forward to connecting with colleagues and thought leaders at ASHRAE and AHR Expo 2025 to advance meaningful innovations and standards that promote health and well-being.
