Airmid Healthgroup was featured in an article in Climate Control Middle East a key publication for the HVAC industry, for its groundbreaking research on ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI). The article highlighted Airmid’s 2012 study, which demonstrated UVGI’s effectiveness in neutralizing mould, bacteria, and viruses in HVAC systems. Using a custom-built ASTM/AHAM test chamber simulating real-world conditions, Airmid validated UVGI as a highly effective technology for improving Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) in commercial buildings.

The article also emphasized the importance of proper UVGI system design. Modern UVGI sizing tools now allow engineers and contractors to optimize lamp placement, power, and reflectivity to ensure compliance with industry standards, such as the D99 criteria for 99% microbe inactivation. These tools not only enhance system efficiency but also reduce costs by avoiding over-sizing or poor placement of UV lamps.
