History of the Name “Airmid”
When developing the Airmid Healthgroup brand, we wanted a name that reflected our mission: advancing public health, improving indoor environments, and supporting overall wellbeing through science. Our Irish roots were also central to this identity, which led us to the name Airmid, drawn from Celtic mythology.
Airmid — also known as Airmed or Airmeith — was the Celtic Goddess of Healing, renowned for her deep knowledge of herbs and restorative practices. She was the daughter of Dian Cécht, the chief physician of the Tuatha Dé Danann, and worked alongside her family at the legendary Well of Sláine. According to myth, warriors immersed in this healing well could return renewed, restored, and ready to meet new challenges.
This symbolic connection to health, recovery, and the restorative power of nature aligns closely with our work in indoor air quality, aerobiology, and evidence-based testing.
History of the Logo
The Airmid Healthgroup logo was inspired by the Celtic knot, specifically the Trinity knot or Triqueta. This symbol reflects continuity, balance, interconnectedness, and the cyclical nature of health and environment — values central to our scientific approach.
The three flowing elements of the logo represent the three core business units within Airmid Healthgroup:
The knot motif also reflects our longstanding collaborations with Trinity College Dublin, including research partnerships with the Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute.
Many people see a resemblance to a windmill, which further reinforces our core focus: air, airflow, and the quality of the indoor environment. The movement suggested by the logo’s curves draws inspiration from the Yin–Yang symbol, representing harmony, interdependence, and the constantly evolving nature of the built environment.
This dynamic form mirrors the way our scientific services work together — from advanced indoor air quality testing to microbiology, VOC analysis, and product validation — to support healthier indoor spaces worldwide.
