Why Febreze® Allergen Reducer Earned Asthma & Allergy Friendly® Certification

Febreze® Fabric Refresher Allergen Reducer, the first soft surface spray Certified Asthma & Allergy Friendly® by AAFA, independently tested at Airmid Healthgroup.
Procter & Gamble’s Febreze® Fabric Refresher Allergen Reducer, Unscented, is the first soft surface allergen control spray to earn Asthma & Allergy Friendly® Certification from the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA).
This innovative spray not only helps reduce odors but is also scientifically proven to reduce allergens from soft furnishings such as carpets, bedding, and upholstery. By preventing the release of allergens into the air, it supports healthier indoor air quality for households impacted by asthma and allergies.

To achieve Certification, the product underwent extensive testing at Airmid Healthgroup. Testing protocols included:
-
Constituent and VOC emissions analysis to ensure low chemical emissions.
-
Assessment of allergen impact on soft furnishings, including pollen (birch tree and timothy grass), pet dander, and dust mites.
-
Environmental chamber studies to evaluate airborne allergen release during normal room disturbance.
Results demonstrated that Febreze® Fabric Refresher Allergen Reducer, Unscented:
-
Significantly reduced airborne allergen levels compared to untreated controls.
-
Effectively retained allergens on fabric surfaces, preventing them from re-circulating.
-
Allowed recommended cleaning procedures to fully remove allergens.
-
Returned residual moisture to baseline levels within 90 minutes after application.
Certification Standard for Allergen Control Sprays
The Certification was awarded under the Soft Surface Allergen Control Sprays Standard (ASP:17-01), developed by Allergy Standards Ltd (ASL), an international certification body that founded and manages the asthma & allergy friendly® Certification Program worldwide.
