Oliver Dsa MSc, Senior Virologist at Airmid Healthgroup

I am delighted to join the expert author team at Airmid Healthgroup’s Aerobiology Matters blog. As a senior scientist here, I work at the intersection of environmental virology, airborne pathogen testing, and the real-world performance of technologies designed to improve indoor air quality. Writing for this blog gives me the opportunity to translate that laboratory work into practical insights for the researchers, product developers, and public health professionals who rely on rigorous science to make better decisions.

My background is in clinical virology. I hold a Master of Science in Clinical Virology and have spent my career building expertise in high-containment laboratory research, virological assay development, and the design and execution of GLP-compliant studies. Before joining Airmid Healthgroup, I conducted research in India on respiratory and vector-borne pathogens — work that gave me a strong foundation in molecular epidemiology and the real-world behaviour of viruses across diverse environments.

At Airmid Healthgroup, I focus on generating scientifically robust data that supports global manufacturers, healthcare innovators, and regulatory teams. Much of my work involves evaluating the real-world performance of antimicrobial, antiviral, and air purification technologies against the standards that matter — FDA, EPA, ISO, and CE marking bodies. I am deeply engaged in testing solutions for infection prevention across healthcare, residential, commercial, and transport environments.

In my blog contributions, you can expect evidence-based analysis on topics including airborne pathogen transmission, antiviral product validation, surface and air decontamination strategies, and the evolving ventilation standards — including ASHRAE 241 — that are reshaping how we think about infection control in the built environment. I will always aim to connect the science directly to practical application.
