Dublin, Ireland — October 22, 2025
Airmid Healthgroup will welcome ASHRAE Ireland and Professor Chandra Sekhar, Ph.D., Distinguished Lecturer from the National University of Singapore, for a special seminar on “Control of Infectious Aerosols.”

Professor Sekhar’s presentation will provide deep insight into ASHRAE Standard 241-2023: Control of Infectious Aerosols, a groundbreaking standard that defines requirements to reduce airborne disease transmission in buildings and introduces the Infection Risk Management Mode (IRMM) — a new framework for ensuring ventilation and air cleaning systems perform effectively during periods of elevated risk.

During the event, attendees from across the indoor air quality (IAQ), HVAC, and healthy buildings sectors will  join Airmid’s scientific team for an afternoon of knowledge exchange and discussion on the next generation of ventilation, filtration, and air cleaning technologies.

As a GLP- and ISO 17025-accredited contract research laboratory, Airmid Healthgroup supports the implementation of ASHRAE Standard 241 and related standards through its advanced aerobiology chambers, infectious aerosol testing, and environmental simulation facilities. These capabilities enable the testing and validation of air cleaning systems, filters, and devices designed to improve indoor environmental quality (IEQ) and public health outcomes.

“Events like this reflect our commitment to advancing the global conversation on infection control, IAQ, and evidence-based healthy building design,” said Dr. John Ryan, CEO of Airmid Healthgroup. “We’re honoured to host Professor Sekhar and ASHRAE Ireland as part of our shared mission to make buildings healthier and more resilient.”

The visit further strengthens Airmid Healthgroup’s engagement with the ASHRAE Environmental Health Committee, ASHRAE 241, and other technical groups working on the science of infection control and building health.
