Airmid participates in the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) committee that is developing a new air cleaner standard.
We are pleased to announce that Jake Behan of airmid healthgroup has become a participating member of IEC SC59N and is contributing to the development of the IEC 63086 standard. This international standard will incorporate a series of methods to measure the performance of air cleaners and will incorporate particular requirements for the determination of the reduction of microbiological agents.
The IEC is a global organisation that develops and publishes standards for electrical equipment. Sub Committee 59N, is a joint working group with both International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and IEC members and is tasked with the development of the IEC 63086 standard for measuring the performance of air cleaners. Those participating in this committee typically fall under the following categories.
- Firms manufacturing air cleaners
- Consumer-driven/information organisations
- Governmental agencies
- Knowledge institutes
- Test houses
Participating members on the committee represent their county rather than their company. As an expert in this field, the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) nominated representatives from airmid healthgroup to provide their expertise in the development of this standard.
We look forward to our ongoing collaboration with the international community and using this platform to share knowledge and ideas during the development of the IEC 63086 standard.
