BS EN 1275:2005 Evaluation of basic fungicidal or yeasticidal activity

BS EN 1275:2005 — Fungicidal and Yeasticidal Activity Testing

Airmid Healthgroup conducts quantitative suspension testing to BS EN 1275:2005 for manufacturers and formulators seeking to validate the fungicidal or yeasticidal activity of chemical disinfectants and antiseptics. Testing is performed in our ISO 17025-accredited microbiology laboratory, with third-party validation documentation issued on passing the standard.

Scope of BS EN 1275:2005

BS EN 1275 Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) antimicrobial test inside a climate-controlled aerobiology chamber; health related innovation
BS EN 1275 Technicians perform a GLP compliant antimicrobial efficacy study chamber for health related innovation

Quantitative suspension test for the evaluation of basic fungicidal or basic yeasticidal activity of chemical disinfectants and antiseptics.

Products that can be tested

Active substances (antifungal biocides) and formulations intended for use in food, industrial, domestic, institutional, medical, and veterinary areas.

Description of test

  • → A predetermined concentration of Aspergillus niger or Candida albicans is used as the test organism.
  • → The test organism is exposed to the fungicidal agent (at a concentration of ≤80% of the neat test solution) at 20 ± 1°C for 15 minutes. Other temperatures (4°C, 10°C, or 40°C) and contact times (1, 5, 30, or 60 minutes) may be used in line with the standard if required.
  • → At the endpoint, fungicidal activity is neutralised and a series of dilutions are prepared.
  • → The number of viable colony forming units (CFU) is determined using the pour plate method. Fungicidal activity is calculated as a function of fungal viability at the start of the contact time.

Third party validation

On passing this test, your product can be labelled as tested by Airmid Healthgroup to BS EN 1275:2005 in support of any claim relating to the test data received. Independent third-party validation by an ISO 17025-accredited laboratory provides the evidential foundation required for regulatory submissions, retailer compliance, and consumer-facing efficacy claims.

Standard turnaround: 4 weeks from receipt of samples.
