Dr. Gráinne Cunniffe is Lead Scientist at Allergy Standards Ltd (ASL), where she oversees technical testing and consulting work and leads the development and ongoing improvement of certification standards and protocols. She shapes ASL’s research and scientific priorities to align with the organisation’s goals and consumer demands, and contributes to its thought leadership through publications, conference presentations, podcasts, and media contributions focused on indoor air quality.

Academic career
Gráinne graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a first class honours degree in Experimental Physics, before completing a PhD in Regenerative Medicine at Queen’s University Belfast. Her postdoctoral research at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) focused on bone tissue engineering and gene therapy.
She subsequently returned to Trinity College, where she managed the biomedical labs and led a suite of advanced biomaterials and translational pre-clinical research studies. She has also earned diplomas in Creativity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship from the UCD Innovation Academy, alongside qualifications in Lean Six Sigma, Statistics, Design Thinking, and Continuous Improvement.
