airmid‘s toxicological review includes an assessment of the possible risks posed to human health by cleaning product ingredients, with particular emphasis on the potential impact of the product on sensitive populations, i.e. those who suffer from asthma and allergy. The review can also assess the likelihood of the product as a whole to cause an allergic reaction or irritation when it comes in contact with the skin.
The review is focused on the consumer use of cleaning products, therefore while occupational exposure limits (OELs) and guidelines from bodies such as OSHA, NIOSH and ACGIH will be considered, additional safety margins for the consumer will be built into the assessment.
The assessment is based on information from a range of sources including published scientific literature, opinions of the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) of the European Commission, EPA reports and other data collections.
