As a former postgraduate of NUI Galway, Noelle Dromgoole was delighted to be in attendance at the one and a half day conference “Occupational Health and Safety: A Pioneering Past and a Bright Future” on the 14th and 15th June 2013. The conference celebrated 21 years of Occupational Health and Safety postgraduate study at NUI Galway and the achievements of postgraduates. In addition the conference reviewed current developments and challenges within Occupational Health and Safety across all industries.
Ruairi Ward, a former Senior Occupational Hygienist at health friendly airTM and a graduate of NUI Galway, was a guest speaker at the conference. Ward is currently a Senior Occupational Hygiene Consultant with HSE Australia and is a Technical Manager of a consultancy operation whose clients are derived mainly from the Mining Industry in Western Australia. Ward gave an insightful synopsis on working as an Occupational Hygienist in Australia entitled ‘Global Challenges with the View from Down Under’.

Noelle has responsibility for the occupational hygiene and workplace environmental monitoring for the airmid healthgroup health friendly airTM programme and develops and delivers tailored quality indoor air sampling strategies for enclosed settings. Following completion of a science degree in Environmental Health in Dublin Institute of Technology, Noelle went on to complete a Masters in Occupational Health & Safety & Ergonomics in the National University of Ireland, Galway.
