Scope
Quantitative suspension test for the evaluation of basic fungicidal or basic yeasticidal activity of chemical disinfectants and antiseptics.
Products that can be tested
Active substances (antifungal biocides) and formulations planned to be used in food, industrial, domestic, institutional, medical and veterinary areas
Description of Test
- A predetermined concentration of Aspergillus niger or Candida albicans is used as the test organism.
- The test organism is exposed to the fungicidal agent (at a concentration of ≤ 80% of the neat test solution) at a temperature of 20 ± 1°C for 15 minutes. Other temperatures may be used in line with the standard (4°C, 10°C or 40°C) as well as other contact times (1, 5, 30 or 60 minutes) if required.
- At the endpoint the fungicidal activity is neutralised, and a series of dilutions are made.
- The number of viable colony forming units is determined using the pour plate method. The fungicidal activity is calculated as a function of the viability of fungi at the start of contact time.
Third Party Validation
On passing this test, the product can be labelled as tested by airmid healthgroup to BS EN 1275:2005 in support of any claim relating to the test and data received.
Turnaround Time
4 weeks from receipt of samples
The quality of the third party data we received from airmid healthgroup helped us showcase our innovative strategy of licensing this novel technology at a prestigious international scientific event, the European Innovation Convention. Ultimately this will allow us add value and differentiate our customer offerings through a focus on health and indoor air quality.
