Microbial Pick Up

Description of the Test

Test method for determining pick up efficiency of a Vacuum Cleaner System for surface microbes, viruses and other pathogens.

Products that can be Tested

Household and commercial canister (tank-type), stick, hand-held, upright, and utility vacuum cleaner systems.

Scope

Vacuum Cleaners have varying results on their removal efficiency of surface biological particles, which can result in consumer exposure to bacterial fragments and other noxious particulate materials.

The composition of household dust includes bacteria, viruses, mold and toxins.

airmid healthgroup is an integrated testing facility that combines molecular biology with state of the art air sampling in a highly sophisticated environmental test chamber.

Availing of such facilities, airmid can follow nominated surface infectious agents and examine the removal effectiveness of these toxic biological particles by vacuum cleaners. Surface removal biological data generated in this manner will have a vastly greater degree of sensitivity and specificity than conventional techniques.

Molecular technology allows for quantification of residual contamination within the vacuum cleaner or surface.

airmid healthgroup‘s applied research in microbiology, molecular biology, and aerobiology means we are uniquely positioned to provide this service.
