Scope
Measurement of antiviral activity on plastics and non-porous surfaces.
Products that can be tested
Plastics, coating materials, ceramics, natural and artificial leathers, rubbers and other non-porous surfaces.
Description of the test
- The test method provides a quantitative evaluation of the antiviral activity of non-porous antiviral surfaces.
- The standard recommends exposing the antiviral test surface to virus for 24 hours at 25ºC, but these parameters can be modified.
- The test method uses Influenza A virus (H3N2) or Feline Calicivirus, but the protocol can be adapted for use with other biosafety level 2 viruses or bacteriophages.
Third Party Validation
On passing this test, the tested product can be labelled as having been tested by airmid to ISO 21702:2019 in support of any claim relating to the test and data received.
