Test Method for Antibacterial Activity of Photocatalytic Materials
The ISO 27447:2019 standard outlines a method to determine the antibacterial activity of materials containing a photocatalyst or photocatalytic films by enumerating bacteria after exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light.
This standard applies to testing photocatalytic ceramics and other non-porous materials treated with photocatalysts, such as textiles, glass, and plastics.
Test Description
- Bacteria (Escherichia coli or Staphylococcus aureus) are inoculated onto the test and control surfaces. Other bacteria strains can be requested.
- The samples are exposed to UV light for a set duration, after which viable bacteria are extracted from the test and control materials and enumerated.
- The antibacterial activity of the photocatalyst after UV irradiation is calculated according to criteria in the standard.
- The antibacterial effect is also assessed in the dark and incorporated into the calculations.
Sample Submission
Please indicate the number of samples you wish to test, and we will provide you with a quote. Upon receipt of the samples and payment, we will perform the testing in accordance with the ISO 27447:2019 standard and provide a detailed report of the results.
Turnaround Time
We aim to deliver your test results within 4 weeks of receiving the samples. At Airmid Health Labs, we prioritize timely results to support your product’s development and marketing timelines.
Third Party Validation
Upon passing this test, the product can be labeled as tested by airmid healthgroup to ISO 27447:2019, supporting any claims related to the test results and data.
Client Testimonial
“The quality of the third party data we received from airmid healthgroup helped us showcase our innovative strategy of licensing this novel technology at a prestigious international scientific event, the European Innovation Convention. Ultimately this will allow us add value and differentiate our customer offerings through a focus on health and indoor air quality.”
