Esmeralda Herrero BSc. PhD

 

Esmeralda Herrero graduated from University College Dublin (UCD) with a BSc in Pharmacology and completed a PhD in Microbiology in University College Dublin. Her research investigated bacterial proteases and their role in prion decontamination and was filed into a UK patent in 2015. Following her PhD, Esmeralda worked for a year as research and development scientist for a novel biotech company before her role as scientific officer in virology in airmid healthgroup.

Esmeralda has over 5 years research experience in mammalian cell culture, molecular biology, bacterial culturing, infectious assays, protein purification, protein biochemistry and laboratory management

 

Tristan Russell BSc. PhD

 

Tristan graduated from the University of Leeds with a BSc in Microbiology. During his degree, Tristan completed a one-year internship at a pharmaceutical company where he gained experience of working in an industrial laboratory. Tristan moved to Ireland in 2014 after choosing to study for a PhD at University College Dublin. The PhD research used molecular biology techniques to study infectious disease, specifically host-virus interactions. Tristan recently graduated from his PhD and joined the virology team at airmid healthgroup in the spring of 2019.  

 

Kevin Ellison

 

Kevin is in his third year at DCU where he has been studying Genetics and Cell biology. He is working in the Environmental Chambers under the supervision of Jake Behan.

Michigan State University logoairmid healthgroup is pleased to announce Dylan Johnston will be joining the business team on an internship program for the next two months. Dylan will be entering his 4th year as an undergraduate at Michigan State University this fall. He is currently a double major in Biochemistry and Biotechnology with hopes to continue his education after his undergraduate career to achieve a masters in business administration. Dylan is very excited to be part of the Digital Content and Marketing team and will be helping to plan and deliver various sales and marketing initiatives.

ciara keenan airmid healthgroupairmid healthgroup is pleased to welcome Ciara Keenan, on a 3 week internship as part of the science team. Entering her 3rd year as an undergraduate in the University of Limerick, Ciara is pursuing a B.Sc. in Food Science and Health. During her 3 weeks at airmid healthgroup, Ciara will be working with Máire Fox, M.Sc., Laboratory Manager, Dr. Angela Southey, Head of Virology and Environmental Test Chambers, John Fallon, PhD, Senior Scientific officer, Natasha Gordon, PhD, R&D manager and Noelle Dromgoole, Occupational Hygienist and will gain hands-on-experience in the Allergen and Microbiology laboratories as well as in the Environmental Test Chambers. She will also participate in Environmental Field Studies. 

airmid healthgroup is pleased to welcome Priscilla Liu to the business team on a 2 month internship. Priscilla is a 3rd year undergraduate studying Economics and Public Health at UC Berkeley. With an interest in business and social enterprises, Priscilla is excited to take part in airmid’s mission to improve the quality and standards of products affecting consumer health. Priscilla will be involved with marketing strategy optimization with Graeme Tarbox, Head of Business Development.

Stephen is a 3rd year undergraduate studying a BSc. in Environmental Science & Health. While at airmid, Stephen will be working in the Allergen Laboratory alongside Máire Fox, MSc, Laboratory Manager, and Dr. Angela Southey, Head of Virology and Environmental Test Chambers.

Feargus-O-Flahertyairmid healthgroup are pleased to welcome Feargus O’Flaherty to the science team on a 3 month work placement module from NUIM. Feargus is a 4th year undergraduate studying a BSc. in Biotechnology. While at airmid, Feargus will be involved in research and development with Dr Natasha Gordon, R&D manager. airmid are delighted to take part in this scheme with NUIM and further extend our collaborations with Universities in Ireland. Work placement in a Third Level Program is an essential part of a student’s pathway into an industry such as airmid healthgroup. As a leading biomedical organisation the student gains experience in a real-life working environment helping companies to develop & differentiate their products and services through data generated in the field, environmental chambers and the laboratory.
