ISO 16212:2011 Test Description
This method involves the enumeration of colonies grown on a selective agar medium, where the inhibition of fungal growth by the sample is neutralized to allow for the detection of viable microorganisms. The plates are incubated aerobically at 25°C ± 2.5°C for 3 to 5 days, after which the colony-forming units (CFU) are counted. The yeast and mold content is then calculated based on the number of CFU per milliliter or per gram of the cosmetic product.
